The liquid eggs market in Northern Europe showed notable volume fluctuations between 2018 and 2023. Starting at 64 968 tons in 2018, market size contracted to 60 480 tons in 2019, then recovered to 63 530 tons in 2020. It remained relatively stable in 2021 at 63 119 tons before declining again to 59 279 tons in 2022.

A sharp reversal took place in 2023, with the market expanding by over 20% to reach 71 532 tons. This growth coincided with a rise in domestic production to 38 781 tons and a significant rebound in imports, which increased to 69 983 tons after a multi-year downward trend.

Northern Europe's liquid egg production has grown for the third year in a row. In 2020, the region produced 32 142 tonnes of liquid eggs, a slight increase of 2.7% compared to 2019. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, production rose by 14.5%, with an average annual growth rate of 4.6%.

The data shows irregular changes, indicating a volatile market environment. Export volumes reached their lowest point in 2017 and peaked in 2018, with a two-fold difference between these years. In 2020, Northern Europe's liquid egg exports totaled 30 432 tonnes, which is 18.9% lower than in 2019. The highest volume was recorded in 2018 at 37 910 tonnes, with the largest increase of 101.2% also occurring that year.

From 2017 to 2020, Northern Europe's liquid egg exports were distributed across a broad partner portfolio. France accounted for 17.3% of exports in kind, the Netherlands for 13.2%, and Czechia for 6.1%, together representing 36.6% of total flows.

Liquid egg exports from Northern Europe declined for the second consecutive year. In 2020, export value stood at 52.2 million US dollars, down 20.4% year-over-year. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, exports increased by 4.2%, with an average annual growth rate of 1.4%. The highest value was recorded in 2018 at 65.7 million US dollars, with the largest increase of 31.1% also in that year.

Between 2017 and 2020, imports decreased by 13.9%, equating to an annualized rate of 4.8%. The highest volume was recorded in 2018 at 72 378 tonnes. The largest decline occurred in 2019 at 7.8%, while the largest increase was in 2018 at 0.9%.
