The Dutch market for household and sanitary paper in wide rolls or large sheets contracted sharply from 131.1 thousand tonnes in 2018 to 85.7 thousand tonnes in 2021, representing a loss of more than one-third of its volume. The most severe annual decline occurred in 2021, when the market shrank by over a quarter compared to the previous year.

This downward trajectory reversed in 2022, with the market volume rising to 88.8 thousand tonnes and edging up further to 90.8 thousand tonnes in 2023. The consecutive increases signal a period of stabilization and modest recovery, although the market remained significantly smaller than at the start of the period.

The lowest value was recorded in 2019 at 39 787 K $ US, which also saw the largest decline of 21.6%.
