In 2018, production of groundnut oil-cake stood at 14 940 t. Over the next two years, it grew to 21 399 t by 2020. This increase was supported by the resilience of peanut cultivation, which remained the only oilseed crop that did not decline in Egypt. Additionally, rising prices for edible oils in the domestic market stimulated local processing, while steady peanut exports of around 63 000 t per year indicated sufficient raw material supply for extraction.

Production dropped to 13 572 t in 2021, coinciding with the expansion of soybean planted area to 250 000 feddans as part of state plans to develop oilseed crops, which may have diverted resources away from peanuts. However, output recovered to 15 969 t in 2022 due to spikes in global vegetable oil prices that made local production more economically attractive. By 2023, volume reached 20 235 t amid proposals to introduce new high-yielding oilseed varieties and increase planted area.

Egypt's groundnutoil-cake production increased for the second year in a row. In 2020, the country produced 21 399 tonnes, marking a 23.2% rise from the previous year. However, over the full 2017–2020 period, production fell by 15.5%, which translates to an average annual decline of 5.5%. The lowest output was recorded in 2018 at 14 940 tonnes, with that year seeing the steepest drop of 41.0%.
