Earlier Report Observations

The Turkish grape market grew from 3,478 thousand tonnes in 2018 to 3,768 thousand tonnes in 2020. This growth was driven by state support for viticulture through local institutions and cooperatives such as TARİŞ, which stabilized the dried grape market. Municipal initiatives, like the Isparta Municipality's restoration and discount days at the Historic Grape Market, boosted local consumption. The expansion of vineyard areas and increase in sapling numbers in 2019 directly increased production. The development of the fruit juice industry also raised demand. In 2020, despite logistical challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic, the healthy eating trend supported grape consumption.

In 2021, the market volume fell to 3,183 thousand tonnes, likely due to ongoing supply chain disruptions from the pandemic. During this period, producers actively adopted American rootstocks for phylloxera resistance and imported new table grape varieties such as Crimson Seedless to improve product quality. By 2022, the market recovered to 3,689 thousand tonnes, aided by rising grape prices, updated export policies, and continued state support that stimulated production.

In 2023, the market volume declined to 3,006 thousand tonnes, reflecting a market adjustment after the previous recovery.
