The Austrian grape market volume reached 401 тыс. т in 2018, supported by active export promotion for Austrian wine through Agrarmarkt Austria (AMA) and Österreich Wein Marketing (ÖWM), which strengthened demand for domestic grapes. After a decline to 343.7 тыс. т in 2019, the market recovered to 357.5 тыс. т in 2020 and continued growing, reaching 373.4 тыс. т in 2022.

This expansion occurred alongside structural shifts in viticulture, including a reduction in vineyard area and ongoing consolidation among producers, with the average farm size increasing while the number of winegrowing businesses fell. Despite these supply-side constraints, market volume growth was sustained through the period.

In 2023, the market volume decreased to 347.6 тыс. т. This coincided with a 5% rise in quality and predicate wine inventories, indicating softer demand from the winemaking sector, which reduced pressure on grape consumption.

The lowest production level was in 2019 at 309.9 K t, while the highest was in 2018 at 367.1 K t. The most significant drop occurred in 2019 with a 15.6% decrease, whereas the largest rise was in 2018 with a 10.8% increase.

In 2020, the value of grape output in Austria reached 783.4 M $ US, up 3.5% from 2019. The lowest value was recorded in 2019 at 756.9 M $ US, and the highest in 2018 at 929.5 M $ US. From 2017 to 2020, exports surged by 65.1%, translating to an annualized growth rate of 18.2%. The lowest export volume was in 2018 at 5 468 t, with the most significant decline that year at 4.6%. The largest increase occurred in 2019 with a 37.7% jump.

Austria's grape exports in value terms rose for the third consecutive year. In 2020, exports amounted to 23.2 M $ US, a steep 26.0% increase compared to the previous year. Over the 2017-2020 period, exports grew by 69.7%, with a compound annual growth rate of 19.3%.
