From 2018 to 2020, Morocco's grape wine market size first expanded, reaching over 61 700 thousand liters in 2019, supported by the government's Plan Maroc Vert which promoted vineyard modernization, investment in production facilities, and quality certifications. This policy-driven modernization helped boost domestic output. However, the market contracted in 2020 as severe drought and unfavorable climatic conditions, reported that year, reduced grape yields and constrained production volumes.

Production continued its downward trend through 2023, pressured by persistent droughts and global climate-related supply challenges that increased agricultural costs. Despite falling domestic output, the total market volume rebounded sharply to 63 041 thousand liters in 2023, driven primarily by a surge in imports which offset the decline in local production. Throughout the period, the market remained highly concentrated, with the Zniber group controlling an estimated 85% of domestic wine production and exports, maintaining a strong focus on European export markets using advanced irrigation and quality-certified practices.

Morocco's grape wine production volume declined after two years of growth. In 2019, production reached its peak at 47 377 thousand liters. However, in 2020, it fell to 40 920 thousand liters, marking a significant 13.6% decrease compared to the previous year. The largest annual increase occurred in 2018, with an 18.6% rise. Overall, from 2017 to 2020, production grew by 18.9%, which translates to an average annual rate of 5.9%.

Morocco's grape wine exports declined in 2020, reaching 3 509 thousand liters, a 25.6% drop from 2019. The largest annual increase was recorded in 2019, at 25.4%. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, exports decreased by 30.3%, averaging an 11.3% annual decline.

From 2017 to 2020, France dominated Morocco's grape wine exports in volume, accounting for 87.3% of the total. Other destinations contributed relatively small shares during this period.

After two years of growth, Morocco's grape wine export value declined. In 2019, it peaked at 12 019 thousand US dollars, with the largest annual increase that year at 12.6%. In 2020, exports fell to 6 073 thousand US dollars, a sharp 49.5% decrease compared to 2019. From 2017 to 2020, export value dropped by 39.1%, averaging a 15.2% annual decline.

Between 2017 and 2020, France, Belgium, and the United States were the main destinations for Morocco's grape wine exports in value terms. France led with 55.3%, followed by Belgium at 2.1%, and the United States at 1.9%. Together, these three countries accounted for 59.4% of total export value.

Morocco's grape wine imports increased for the third consecutive year in 2020, reaching 21 398 thousand liters, a robust 12.3% rise year-over-year. From 2017 to 2020, imports surged by 107.6%, averaging a 27.6% annual growth rate.

From 2017 to 2020, Spain was the dominant source for Morocco's grape wine imports in volume, holding an 86.9% share of total flows. Other partners supplied the remaining volume.
