By 2020, the market volume stabilized around 26 700 t as the COVID-19 pandemic and associated geopolitical risks introduced uncertainties in meat supply chains and consumption patterns across the region.

A modest rebound to 27 266 t occurred in 2021, aligned with sanctions and import substitution policies that encouraged higher domestic meat production. The market then contracted to 26 212 t in 2022, a period that also saw reported declines in poultry output and shifts in overall meat demand. Stability returned in 2023 at 26 229 t, supported by maintained import quotas on related meats and a gradual consumer shift toward semi-processed and conveniently packaged meat products.
