The market for fuel wood in chips and particles in the MENA region contracted sharply from 81 767 t in 2018 to 18 663 t in 2021, before stabilizing around 29 500 t in 2022 and 2023.

Domestic production remained constant at 4 615 t throughout the period, meaning all market fluctuations stemmed from trade. In 2024, imports surged to 72 886 t and exports dropped to 1 196 t, indicating a significant shift in trade flows.
