Coniferous wood fuel production in the MENA region saw consistent annual growth from 7 758 thousand cubic meters in 2018 to 7 790 thousand cubic meters in 2019. This upward trend was supported by a faster rise in global consumption of coniferous wood, including increased production in the United States, which affected timber availability for fuel. Renewable energy policies in the U.S. and Europe that promoted biofuels further stimulated demand in emerging markets like MENA.

The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 boosted residential demand for heating wood due to lockdowns, helping production reach 7 824 thousand cubic meters despite supply chain disruptions. Subsequent years saw gradual recovery in international trade and heightened investments in renewable energy driven by global climate policies, supporting production growth to 7 892 thousand cubic meters by 2022.

Production continued to increase in 2023, reaching 7 938 thousand cubic meters. For 2024, available trade data show imports of 49 thousand cubic meters and exports of 9 thousand cubic meters, indicating ongoing market activity in the region.
