Earlier Report Observations

The wood charcoal market in the MENA region saw its volume increase from 3 340 thousand tons in 2018 to 3 495 thousand tons in 2023. This growth occurred despite a slight contraction to 3 320 thousand tons in 2019, followed by consistent annual expansions. Domestic production strengthened throughout the period, rising from 2 865 thousand tons to 3 003 thousand tons, providing a stable base for the market.

By 2024, trade patterns shifted as imports declined to 486 thousand tons. During this year, the Saudi Arabian market experienced a dramatic 84.1% collapse in export prices and a sharp contraction in consumption, indicating that regulatory or market access alterations likely disrupted regional trade flows and demand.
