Earlier Report Observations
Cuban fresh grape market volume began at 20 334 t in 2018 and edged down to 19 648 t in 2019. A significant expansion to 24 210 t followed in 2020, coinciding with government policies that diversified economic actors in agri-food production to include micro, small, and medium enterprises and non-agricultural cooperatives. Market volume stabilized at 24 288 t in 2021 under existing contracting and commercialization rules for agricultural products. A contraction to 20 360 t occurred in 2022. Recovery followed in 2023, with the market reaching 21 843 t, supported by the rapid growth of the private and cooperative sectors, which increased their share in production and consumption, and a heightened focus on efficiency and subsidy reduction within state-owned food industry enterprises.
