Earlier Report Observations
The fig market in Uzbekistan expanded from 20.8 thousand tonnes in 2018 to 32.2 thousand tonnes in 2021. This growth was supported by the introduction of modern technologies and high-precision equipment in production, alongside active cultivation development in regions such as Andijan and the Fergana Valley.
In 2022, market volume fell sharply to 22.7 thousand tonnes despite a high yield, as exports reached a historic record of 7.2 thousand tonnes. The export surge was driven by an earlier harvest season, lower domestic prices, and expanded access to markets including Russia due to geopolitical shifts. By 2023, the market partially recovered to 27.6 thousand tonnes.
By 2024, efforts to improve export logistics through multimodal transport continued, while state support programs and the entry of new players further stimulated production and export capacity development.
