In 2019, Rwanda's production of edible brassicas reached its lowest point at 58,480 tons. The following year, in 2020, production increased modestly by 4.7% to 61,245 tons. However, looking at the broader period from 2017 to 2020, production declined significantly by 35.5%, which translates to an annualized decrease of 13.6%. The peak production occurred in 2018 at 94,994 tons, while the sharpest year-on-year drop of 38.4% was recorded in 2019.

Rwanda's exports of edible brassicas have grown for the third consecutive year. In 2020, the country exported 431.1 tons, marking a substantial increase of 344.5% compared to 2019. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, exports surged by 910.4%, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 116.2%.

From 2017 to 2020, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda were the two leading markets for Rwanda's edible brassicas exports, together accounting for 98.1% of the total volume. The remaining exports were distributed among a variety of other countries.

Rwanda's edible brassicas exports in value terms have also risen for the third year in a row. In 2020, export value reached $34,620, up by 14.1% from the previous year. Between 2017 and 2020, exports increased by 1,201.9%, corresponding to an annualized growth rate of 135.2%.

During 2017–2020, the United Kingdom, Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Uganda were the primary destinations for Rwanda's edible brassicas exports in value terms. The United Kingdom accounted for 40.1% of exports, the Democratic Republic of the Congo for 38.0%, and Uganda for 16.5%, together making up 94.6% of total export value.

Rwanda's imports of edible brassicas showed notable fluctuations from 2017 to 2020. The lowest volume was recorded in 2018 at 0.5 tons, with a decline of 94.8% that year. In contrast, imports peaked in 2020 at 99.0 tons, representing a dramatic increase of 7,457.6% compared to 2019. Overall, import volumes varied by 192 times between the low in 2018 and the high in 2020.

From 2017 to 2020, Tanzania was the dominant supplier of edible brassicas to Rwanda, capturing 88.9% of total import volume. The rest of the imports came from a diverse group of other countries.

Rwanda's imports of edible brassicas in value terms experienced significant volatility during 2017–2020. The lowest value was $548 in 2019, followed by a sharp decline of 60.7% in 2018. In 2020, imports surged to $18,991, a steep increase of 3,367.9% year-over-year. Import values fluctuated by 35 times between the low in 2019 and the high in 2020.
