Myanmar's duck meat and offal market volume expanded from 45 562 t in 2018 to 63 411 t in 2022, supported by a strong domestic production base of around 31 million heads and significant feed demand from duck farms, which indicated ongoing sector expansion. State-owned Myanmar Livestock Federation maintained control over feed mill operations, reinforcing the domestic supply chain during this period of growth.

The market stabilized around 63 000 t in 2023 following the enforcement of the 2022 Labeling Order for Pre-packaged Foods, which imposed strict bilingual labeling requirements. This regulation, coupled with increasing import-licensing difficulties, caused a sharp 74% drop in the value of frozen duck meat imports by 2023, reducing foreign supply and contributing to the plateau in total market volume.

Regulatory oversight intensified in 2024 with the launch of the Food Product Notification system, which mandated electronic product-code registration for pre-packaged foods. These continued labeling and registration requirements, along with repeated U.S. FSIS public health alerts on ineligible exports, sustained pressure on import channels and domestic compliance, influencing the market structure.

Myanmar's duck meat and offal production rose for the second year in a row. In 2020, the country produced 54.7 K t, marking a modest 7.1% year-over-year increase. However, from 2017 to 2020, overall production fell by 61.4%, which translates to an annualized decline of 27.2%. The lowest output was in 2018 at 45.5 K t. That year also saw the steepest drop of 67.9%, while 2019 recorded the largest gain of 12.2%.
