The war in Ukraine disrupted established logistics routes in 2021, accelerating a strategic reorientation of Moldovan grape trade towards the European Union. This shift was reinforced by new, higher EU export quotas for table grapes introduced in late 2022 and the European Parliament's grant of tariff-free access for Moldovan grapes in 2023, measures that strengthened export opportunities. These policy and trade realignments contributed to market volatility, with volume reaching 850 t in 2023.

By 2024, exports of grapes to the EU had doubled to record levels, supported by the full liberalization of EU trade for grape juice and other Moldovan products, reflecting the ongoing transformation of the country's agricultural trade framework.
