The market volume for decaffeinated or roasted coffee in Belgium contracted significantly from 40 550 t in 2018 to 30 657 t in 2022, a decline of nearly 25%. This downward trend reversed in 2023 with a sharp rebound to 39 321 t, but volume fell again in 2024 to 34 089 t.

In value terms, the market followed a different pattern. After a gradual decrease from $337.5 million in 2018 to $295.6 million in 2022, the market's worth grew strongly to $367.7 million in 2023 and further to $435.5 million in 2024. This rise in value occurred despite a lower physical volume in 2024 compared to 2018, pointing to a substantial increase in average prices or a shift toward higher-value products.

The net volume available domestically was shaped by trade dynamics. Imports fell from 32 613 t in 2018 to a low in 2021 before recovering, while exports remained relatively high, especially in 2024 at 39 811 t, reducing the volume retained for local consumption.
