Corn oil production in Uzbekistan grew from 6 840 tons in 2018 to 8 301 tons in 2020. This initial expansion was supported by a reduction in raw material costs after cottonseed oil was exempted from excise tax in late 2018. Furthermore, the introduction of mandatory exchange trading for cotton products in early 2018 increased price transparency and attracted new market participants.

Production accelerated sharply from 2021 onward, reaching 12 535 tons by 2023. The key driver was the government's policy of maintaining zero customs duties on imports of vegetable oil, first extended in 2020 and repeatedly renewed, which ensured a steady flow of affordable raw material for manufacturers. Additionally, an export ban on sunflower and cottonseed oils enacted in mid-2022 restricted external supplies, thereby increasing domestic demand for locally produced oils like corn oil.

The regulatory landscape continued to evolve with the implementation of mandatory digital labeling for vegetable oils, for which preparations began in 2023. Concurrently, the zero import duty regime was extended into 2026, and a new joint venture added production capacity, further shaping the market structure.

Uzbekistan's corn oil and fractions production has grown for the second year in a row. In 2019, output reached 8 301 tonnes, marking a modest 3.7% increase from the previous year. Looking at the 2017-2020 period, production rose by 15% overall, with an average annual growth rate of 4.8%. The lowest production level was in 2018 at 6 840 tonnes, which saw the largest decline of 5.3%. In contrast, 2019 recorded the biggest jump with a 17.1% increase.
