Earlier Report Observations

The copra market in Western Africa contracted significantly between 2018 and 2021, with its volume falling from 71 777 t to 56 324 t.

This decline was reversed in 2022 when the market grew by 3.8% to 58 447 t, a recovery driven primarily by favorable weather conditions and improved access to agricultural inputs like fertilizers, which boosted overall crop production. The market volume then stabilized at 58 358 t in 2023, as oilseed cultivation continued to be supported by similar climatic and resource factors.
