The wood fuel market in Tunisia remained stable from 2018 to 2022, with annual volumes around 3 600 thousand m³. This stability was supported by the National Agency for Energy Management's (ANME) rationalization programs aimed at reducing wood energy consumption in traditional bakeries, alongside the fuel's continued role as a renewable energy source with low supply chain vulnerability.

In 2022, wood heating gained popularity as an economical and ecological solution, encouraged by tax credits and a wider range of stoves. However, market growth was limited by persistent challenges in accessing local financing for small renewable energy projects, including those based on wood fuel.

The market volume contracted sharply in 2023, falling to 2 715 thousand m³, a decrease of approximately 25% from the previous year.
