Coffee extracts and coffee-based preparations market in Greece

Between 2018 and 2024, the Greek market for coffee extracts and coffee-based preparations saw a contraction in physical volume, declining from 12 333 tons to 10 942 tons, with the lowest point in 2023. In contrast, the market value in million USD fell from 168.9 in 2018 to 154.2 in 2020, but then grew steadily to reach 174.9 by 2024.

The most significant volume drop occurred in 2020, when the market shrank by over 1 200 tons to 11 270 tons. This was followed by further gradual declines through 2023. The recovery in volume in 2024 coincided with a sharp rise in imports to 7 999 tons, which helped lift the overall market size. Meanwhile, the steady increase in market value after 2020 suggests a shift toward higher-priced products or general price inflation within the category.

Domestic production trended downward over the period, from 5 211 tons in 2018 to 4 095 tons in 2024, indicating reduced local output. Imports, which constitute the bulk of supply, also fell from 8 303 tons in 2018 to 6 944 tons in 2023 before rebounding strongly in 2024. Exports remained relatively stable, contributing to the net market volume changes.
