In 2020, Middle Africa produced 13,200 tons of coconuts, showing no significant change from 2019. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, production increased by 22.3%, with an average annual growth rate of 7.0%. The lowest production level was recorded in 2018 at 10,340 tons, while the highest was in 2019 at 13,200 tons. The largest decline occurred in 2018, dropping by 4.2%, whereas the most substantial increase was in 2019, rising by 27.7%.

From 2017 to 2020, Portugal, Nigeria, and Canada led the structure of coconut exports in kind, accounting for 6.1%, 2.9%, and 1.5% of total exports, respectively. Together, they represented 10.6% of the total export flows.

Middle Africa's coconut exports in value terms declined for the third consecutive year. In 2020, exports stood at 122,000 US dollars, reflecting a 22.1% decrease from the previous year. Over the 2017-2020 period, exports fell by 35.8%, with an average annual decline of 13.7%.

Data from 2017 to 2020 show that coconut exports in value terms from Middle Africa were not concentrated on a few key destinations. Portugal, Nigeria, and Namibia accounted for 4.6%, 4.4%, and 1.7% of exports, respectively, jointly making up only 10.7% of total flows.

From 2017 to 2020, Portugal, Vietnam, and Indonesia were the principal destinations for coconut imports in value terms, accounting for 33.1%, 25.8%, and 9.3% of imports, respectively. Together, they made up 68.2% of total import flows.
