Market volume dipped in 2021 to 16 824 thousand tons as record agro-exports and persistent phytosanitary challenges reduced domestic availability. The market rebounded sharply in 2022, reaching 17 877 thousand tons, fueled by rising consumer awareness of healthy eating, greater supply of refrigerated and frozen citrus products, and the active role of major processors like Conservas La Costeña. Growth continued in 2023, with volume climbing to 18 376 thousand tons.
