In 2018, the Polish market for fresh, chilled, or frozen chicken meat and offal reached 1 063 K t, supported by regulatory quality standards and export subsidies that helped producers meet EU requirements and strengthen external sales. By 2019, the market volume had contracted to 978 K t, before partially recovering to 1 018 K t in 2020.

In 2021, domestic market volume fell to 914 K t, yet its value increased to $1 821 million due to rising prices triggered by avian influenza outbreaks, high inflation, and increased production costs. Market volume rose to 949 K t in 2022, with value jumping sharply to $2 427 million amid steady consumer demand for chicken as a more affordable and healthier protein source. By 2023, volume stabilized at 939 K t with a value of $2 313 million, as retail distribution shifted toward discount chains and consumers showed growing interest in eco-friendly and ethical products.

Poland's production of chicken meat and offal grew for the third consecutive year. In 2020, the country produced 2 200 thousand tonnes, marking a 4.2% increase from the previous year. Over the 2017-2020 period, production rose by 49.4%, which translates to an average annual growth rate of 14.3%.

The value of Poland's chicken meat and offal production fell for the second year in a row. In 2020, output was valued at 3 565 million US dollars, down 3.5% from 2019. However, from 2017 to 2020, production value increased by 42.8%, averaging 12.6% growth per year. The peak value occurred in 2018 at 3 928 million US dollars, while the sharpest decline of 5.9% was recorded in 2019. The largest increase of 57.4% took place in 2018.

Poland's exports of chicken meat and offal expanded for the third consecutive year. In 2020, exports reached 1 223 thousand tonnes, up 1.9% from the previous year. Between 2017 and 2020, exports grew by 38.9%, with an average annual rate of 11.6%.

From 2017 to 2020, Poland's exports in volume terms were highly diversified geographically. Germany accounted for 11.6% of exports, the United Kingdom for 8.9%, and the Netherlands for 8.9%, together making up just 29.4% of total flows. The remaining 70.6% was spread across numerous smaller trading partners.

After rising for two years, the value of Poland's chicken meat and offal exports declined. In 2020, exports totaled 1 981 million US dollars, a 5.7% decrease year-on-year. Over the 2017-2020 period, export value increased by 32.8%, with a compound annual growth rate of 9.9%. The highest value was recorded in 2019 at 2 101 million US dollars, while the largest increase of 36.4% occurred in 2018.

During 2017-2020, Germany, the United Kingdom, and France were significant buyers of Polish chicken meat and offal in value terms, with shares of 16.1%, 15.1%, and 10.6%, respectively. However, their combined share reached only 41.7% of total export value, with the remaining 58.3% distributed among many other partners.

Following two years of growth, Poland's imports of chicken meat and offal in volume terms decreased. In 2020, imports stood at 41 thousand tonnes, a 39.6% drop from the previous year. Between 2017 and 2020, imports increased by 12.9%, averaging 4.1% growth per year. The peak volume was recorded in 2019 at 67 thousand tonnes, while the largest increase of 68.7% took place in 2018.

Throughout 2017-2020, Ukraine, Germany, and the United Kingdom were the key partners for Poland's imports in volume terms. Ukraine accounted for 29.3% of imports, Germany for 21.0%, and the United Kingdom for 15.0%, together representing 65.3% of total flows.

The market showed an unstable trend over this period. Poland imported 60 million US dollars worth of chicken meat and offal in 2020, a sharp decline of 42.3% from the previous year. The highest value was recorded in 2018 at 120 million US dollars, while the lowest occurred in 2020, resulting in a peak-to-trough ratio of 2 times. The largest increase of 79.7% also took place in 2018.
