The market for chicken meat and offal in Kuwait experienced notable fluctuations between 2018 and 2023. Volume peaked sharply at 257.5 thousand tonnes in 2022, a surge closely tied to the country's increased reliance on imports, particularly from Brazil, where it became the third-largest Arab importer of Brazilian chicken that year. Earlier, in 2019, strong local demand for poultry products supported a market volume of 199.8 thousand tonnes, characterized by high consumption of imported chicken.

Following 2019, market volume contracted to 192.4 thousand tonnes in 2020 and further to 174.7 thousand tonnes in 2021. By 2023, volume adjusted to 204.1 thousand tonnes. During the latter part of the period, infrastructure developments emerged, including announcements of new market construction projects under public-private partnerships and the implementation of the 'New Kuwait' initiative, which introduced faster inspection procedures for perishable food imports at the airport, potentially affecting the distribution landscape.

Kuwait's chicken meat and offal production has grown for the third year in a row. In 2020, the country produced 62 550 tonnes, marking a 2.2% year-on-year increase. From 2017 to 2020, production rose by 12.2%, which translates to an average annual growth rate of 3.9%.

Export volumes showed significant fluctuations during this period. In 2018, exports peaked at 6.5 thousand tonnes, but then dropped sharply to a low of 0.6 thousand tonnes in 2019, representing a 90.3% decline. By 2020, exports rebounded to 4.8 thousand tonnes, a dramatic 665.4% increase compared to 2019.

From 2017 to 2020, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar were the top destinations for Kuwait's chicken meat and offal exports by volume. Iraq accounted for 22.5% of exports, Saudi Arabia for 21.7%, and Qatar for 21.4%. Together, these three countries made up 65.6% of total export flows.

Export values experienced notable volatility. In 2018, they reached a high of 31.2 million US dollars, but fell to just 2.2 million US dollars in 2019, a 93.0% drop. In 2020, exports recovered to 14.8 million US dollars, surging 575.9% from the previous year.

Between 2017 and 2020, Iraq, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia were the largest buyers of Kuwait's chicken meat and offal by value. Iraq contributed 28.2% of export value, Qatar 27.6%, and Saudi Arabia 19.7%. Combined, these three markets represented 75.5% of total export value.

The highest import volume was recorded in 2018 at 140.6 thousand tonnes, which was a 7.4% increase from the previous year.

Between 2017 and 2020, import value rose by 4.1%, with a compound annual growth rate of 1.4%. The peak was in 2019 at 301.6 million US dollars, reflecting a 5.4% increase from the year before.
