The market continued its upward path from 2021 to 2023, reaching 1 285 thousand tons, while local production recovered to over 630 thousand tons.

By 2024, broader industry trends included rising consumer demand for convenient, ready-to-eat and frozen chicken products, supported by investments in cold chain infrastructure. The expansion of quick-service restaurant chains and a shift toward high-protein diets also contributed to sustained market activity, alongside a growing preference for products with clean labels and extended shelf life.

Caribbean's chicken meat and offal production declined for the second year in a row. In 2020, the region produced 543.8 thousand tons, marking a significant 13.7% drop from 2019. Looking at the period from 2017 to 2020, production fell by 13.4%, which translates to an average annual decrease of 4.7%. The highest production level was recorded in 2018 at 645.4 thousand tons, with the largest year-on-year increase of 2.8% also occurring that year.

The export market for chicken meat and offal from the Caribbean showed notable volatility during the observed period. The lowest export volume was recorded in 2018 at 0.7 thousand tons, while the peak occurred in 2020 at 4.5 thousand tons, representing a 6.2-fold difference between these years. In 2020, exports totaled 4.5 thousand tons, reflecting a sharp 37.8% increase from the previous year. The largest decline was seen in 2018 with a 78.6% drop, while the most substantial increase happened in 2019 with a 351.9% surge.

From 2017 to 2020, the key destinations for Caribbean chicken meat and offal exports were Congo, Gabon, and the United States. Congo accounted for 1.4% of exports, while Gabon and the United States each represented 0.7%. Together, these three markets made up 2.8% of total export flows.

Caribbean exports of chicken meat and offal in value terms declined for the second consecutive year. In 2020, exports amounted to 7.4 million US dollars, showing a dramatic 54.6% decrease compared to the previous year. Over the 2017-2020 period, exports fell by 44.9%, equating to an average annual decline of 18.0%. The highest value was recorded in 2018 at 21.4 million US dollars, which also saw the largest year-on-year increase of 58.6%.

During 2017-2020, the United States and Brazil were the dominant suppliers of chicken meat and offal to the Caribbean, together accounting for 85.7% of total imports. Other partners contributed to a smaller share of imports.
