Increased imports of poultry meat in 2020 also helped maintain market volume despite rising exports.

From 2021, the market declined to 344 thousand tons, partly due to modernization efforts at state-owned meat plants that temporarily reduced production. Consumer preferences shifted towards convenient ready-to-eat meat products, influencing product mix. In 2022, global factors such as currency fluctuations and changes in trade relations with Russia affected trade flows, contributing to market stabilization around 343 thousand tons.

The market contracted further to 314 thousand tons in 2023, driven by a drop in domestic production coupled with high export volumes, while imports remained significant. The overall period from 2018 to 2023 saw initial growth followed by a gradual reduction in market size.
