From 2017 to 2020, the United States, Lebanon, and the United Arab Emirates were the top markets for Africa's cereal germ exports in value terms. The United States accounted for 2.5% of exports, Lebanon for 0.6%, and the United Arab Emirates for 0.5%. Together, these three countries represented 3.7% of total export flows.

The market for cereal germ imports into Africa showed significant volatility during these years. Imports fluctuated widely, with a 24-fold difference between the peak and trough from 2017 to 2019. Between 2017 and 2020, India, China, and Belgium were the leading sources of cereal germ imports into Africa in volume terms. India contributed 50.8% of imports, China 13.8%, and Belgium 11.2%. Collectively, these three countries made up 75.8% of total import flows.
