The upward trajectory reversed sharply in 2023, with the market volume contracting by over 12% to fall back to 9 602 тыс. т.

Cassava production in Vietnam increased for the second consecutive year. In 2020, Vietnam produced 10 504 thousand tons of cassava, marking a 3.2% rise compared to 2019. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, production grew by 2.3%, which translates to an annualized rate of 0.8%. The lowest production level was recorded in 2018 at 9 847 thousand tons, representing the largest decline of 4.1% during this timeframe. Conversely, the largest increase occurred in 2019, with a growth of 3.3%.

Exports cassava from Vietnam

The minimum export volume was recorded in 2018 at 143.4 thousand tons, while the maximum was in 2017, resulting in a 17-fold variation between these two years. Vietnam's volume of cassava imports declined for the third consecutive year. In 2020, imports reached 162.5 million US dollars, down by 16.3% compared to 2019. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, imports decreased by 51.2%, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of -21.2%.
