Ghana's cassava production increased for the third consecutive year. In 2020, the country produced 24 368 thousand tonnes of cassava, which represents a 7.1% increase compared to the previous year. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, production grew by 28.2%, with an average annual growth rate of 8.6%.

Exports cassava from Ghana

The market exhibited volatility during the observed period. Export volumes reached their lowest point in 2018 at 34 tonnes and peaked in 2019 at 1 998 tonnes, marking a 59-fold difference between these years. In 2020, Ghana's cassava exports stood at 1 556 tonnes, showing a significant decrease of 22.1% compared to 2019. The largest decline occurred in 2018, falling by 73.0%, while the largest increase was recorded in 2019, surging by 5 794.6%.

From 2017 to 2020, Turkey led the structure of exports in value terms with 35.5%, followed by the United Kingdom at 11.4% and France at 10.7%. Together, these three countries represented 57.6% of Ghana's total cassava export flows.
