In 2024, several developments occurred in the sector. Lactingol launched the country's first major dairy processing line for butter, yogurts, and juices, representing a $27 million investment. New street trading regulations were introduced via Presidential Decree No. 111/24, affecting the distribution of butter, margarine, and edible oils. Additionally, labeling rules for margarine and fat emulsions were enforced, requiring adjustments for products of plant and animal origin.

In 2020, the country produced 1 158.2 tons, marking a slight decrease of 2.3% from the previous year.
