Earlier Report Observations

From 2018 to 2019, the market volume for fresh or chilled beans in Kyrgyzstan increased from 6 868 t to 7 533 t, coinciding with the production expansion of Ecomarket, the largest producer, which scaled up output to meet international demand, including in Russia. The company's growth from small beginnings helped boost domestic supply. However, in 2020, the market volume decreased to 6 960 t as production volumes remained limited, a period when Ecomarket was focusing on expanding its sales markets.

In 2021, the market volume sharply fell to 4 025 t. This drop occurred because exports surged to 3 157 t after Ecomarket signed a contract to supply fava beans to Ukraine, redirecting a significant portion of production abroad. Over the next two years, as export volumes receded, the domestic market recovered, reaching 4 793 t in 2022 and 6 916 t in 2023.
