The apricot market in Jordan saw relative stability from 2018 to 2019, with domestic volume hovering around 15 500 t, before growing to 17 094 t in 2020.

Market volume dropped sharply to 6 370 t in 2021. This contraction coincided with a 6.2% increase in the Agricultural Producers’ Price Index that August, which raised production costs and likely dampened consumer demand. A recovery followed in 2022 and 2023, with volumes reaching 8 829 t and 10 578 t, respectively, though remaining below pre-2021 levels.

In 2024, Jordan's broader agricultural sector grew by 6.9%, supported by enhanced cooperation between state institutions and the private sector, which fostered a more supportive policy environment for agricultural production and exports.

Jordan's apricot production saw growth for two consecutive years before declining. In 2019, production reached its peak at 26,459 tons, representing a significant 23.6% increase from the previous year. However, in 2020, production fell to 20,992 tons, marking a 20.7% decrease compared to 2019. Over the entire 2017-2020 period, production increased by 11.7%, with an average annual growth rate of 3.8%.

The export market for Jordanian apricots showed considerable volatility during this period. In 2019, exports peaked at 11,117 tons, but then dropped sharply to 3,898 tons in 2020, representing a dramatic 64.9% decrease year-over-year. The difference between these two years was substantial, with 2020 exports being 2.9 times lower than in 2019. The largest annual increase occurred in 2019, when exports surged by 91.2%.

Between 2017 and 2020, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Oman were the primary markets for Jordan's apricot exports by volume. Saudi Arabia accounted for 58.4% of total exports, followed by Kuwait at 11.3% and Oman at 10.4%. Together, these three countries represented 80.2% of Jordan's total apricot exports during this period.

Jordan's apricot export revenues followed a similar pattern to export volumes. In 2019, exports reached their highest value with a 32.7% increase from the previous year. However, in 2020, export revenues fell to 7,143 thousand US dollars, representing a 49.1% decrease compared to 2019. Over the 2017-2020 period, total export revenues decreased by 51.1%, with an average annual decline of 21.2%.

In terms of export value between 2017 and 2020, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Oman remained the dominant markets. Saudi Arabia accounted for 59.2% of total export value, Kuwait represented 12.1%, and Oman contributed 10.8%. Collectively, these three countries absorbed 82.0% of Jordan's total apricot export revenues during this period.
