Earlier Report Observations

The market volume for fresh apples, pears and quinces in Norway fluctuated between 2018 and 2023. It started at 76 197 t in 2018, edged up to 76 364 t in 2019, then contracted to 69 779 t in 2020.

After the 2020 low, the market recovered to 74 031 t in 2021 but fell again to 70 802 t in 2022. A slight increase brought it to 71 395 t in 2023. Domestic production showed sharp swings, dropping to 12 543 t in 2020 before jumping to 19 284 t in 2021.

Imports, which account for the majority of supply, declined steadily from 60 981 t in 2018 to 50 698 t in 2023. This gradual reduction in imports contributed to the market volume remaining below earlier levels in the latter part of the period.
