The market volume for apples, pears and quinces in Honduras showed considerable volatility from 2018 to 2023. After an initial increase to 14 280 t in 2019, consumption dipped in 2020 before surging by over 28% to a peak of 17 233 t in 2021. The market then contracted sharply in 2022, falling to 14 251 t, before recovering to 16 429 t in 2023.

In 2024, new fiscal and commercial regulations were implemented. The fruits were added to the list of products subject to the Sales Tax, and supermarkets undertook a relabeling process to comply with updated pricing and labeling rules. Concurrently, rising import costs contributed to higher consumer prices for seasonal fruit, while local initiatives promoted the consumption of fresh, sustainable produce.
