The market for fresh apples, pears and quinces in Germany began the period at 1,995 thousand tons in 2018, supported by events promoting varietal diversity and expanded processing capacity for these fruits. Volume fell to 1,737 thousand tons in 2019 before recovering to 1,812 thousand tons in 2020, a rebound driven by increased processing of quinces into juice and jelly, alongside private projects reviving old quince varieties in Lower Franconia which stimulated consumption.

Market volume saw a slight contraction to 1,752 thousand tons in 2021, even as the product range diversified with regional apple-pear wines and marketing efforts for organic fruit. It stabilized at 1,757 thousand tons in 2022, supported by modern organic pressing facilities and optimal pollination practices that helped maintain production quality. By 2023, the market volume had decreased to 1,583 thousand tons.
