Earlier Report Observations

The almond market in Kazakhstan expanded significantly from 7 779 t in 2018 to 12 724 t in 2021. This growth was fueled by rising global demand for almonds due to population growth and higher incomes, coupled with favorable weather in key producing regions like the United States which increased harvests and lowered prices. The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 accelerated a consumer shift towards healthy eating and spurred the growth of online sales, further supporting market volume.

Market volume dipped to 11 234 t in 2022 as global supply chain disruptions and raw material price volatility constrained imports. However, recovery followed in 2023, with the market reaching 12 877 t, aided by increased regional almond trade and the continued expansion of e-commerce in Kazakhstan involving major platforms like Kaspi.kz and Halyk Market, which improved product accessibility.

Underlying consumer trends towards healthy snacks and ongoing investments in e-commerce and fulfillment infrastructure provided a consistent foundation for almond consumption throughout the period.
