The domestic market volume for alcoholic beer in Czechia declined from 1 466 million liters in 2018 to 1 328 million liters in 2021. This contraction was primarily driven by shifting consumer preferences towards healthier lifestyles and moderate alcohol consumption, a trend that particularly reduced beer penetration among younger demographics. The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 further accelerated this decline, as restrictions on hospitality venues sharply reduced on-trade sales of draught beer.

Despite the volume decline, market value began to recover from 2021 onward, reaching $1 204 million in 2023, supported by a consumer shift towards premium, craft, and non-alcoholic variants. Concurrently, record export volumes, which hit 6.1 million hectoliters in 2024, helped sustain production levels. Breweries responded to these trends by expanding non-alcohol beer offerings and modernizing facilities, such as the capacity expansion to 2.2 million hectoliters per year in 2024.

The lowest value was recorded in 2020 at 1 173 million US dollars, which also saw the largest decline of 8.1%.

After a two-year drop, Czechia's alcoholic beer production volume increased. In 2021, 1 819 million liters were produced, showing little change from 2020. Between 2018 and 2021, production decreased by 7%, equating to an annualized rate of 2.4%. The minimum value was recorded in 2020 at 1 816 million liters, which also experienced the largest decline of 5.4%.
