A recovery to 9 677 million liters occurred in 2021, but volumes resumed a downward path in 2022 and 2023, ending at 8 935 million liters.

Measured in value, the market followed a different trajectory. While consumption volumes declined after 2019, the market's monetary worth increased steadily from $9 269 million in 2018 to $12 262 million in 2023. This sustained growth in value amid falling volume points to a notable shift toward higher-priced beer offerings or broad price inflation within the category.

Domestic production volumes broadly tracked the physical market trend, peaking at 10 988 million liters in 2019 before falling to 9 031 million liters in 2023. Imports to the region generally decreased from 2018 to 2022, while export levels fluctuated without establishing a clear directional trend over the period.

In 2020, the region produced 9 328 million liters of alcoholic beer, which represents a 15.1% decrease compared to the previous year. Over the period from 2017 to 2020, production fell by 5.3%, with a compound annual growth rate of 1.8%. The highest production level was recorded in 2019 at 10 988 million liters, which also saw the largest annual increase of 11.2%.

In 2020, South-eastern Asia exported 279.8 million liters of alcoholic beer, marking a 4.2% increase from 2019. Over the 2017-2020 period, exports decreased by 8.6%, with a compound annual growth rate of 2.9%. The lowest export volume was recorded in 2019 at 268.4 million liters, while the highest was in 2018 at 453.0 million liters. The largest decline occurred in 2019 with a 40.8% drop, and the largest increase was in 2018 with a 48.1% rise.

From 2017 to 2020, alcoholic beer exports from South-eastern Asia were distributed across a wide range of markets. Hong Kong accounted for 6.7% of exports in kind, the United Arab Emirates for 5.2%, and China for 4.5%. Together, these three markets represented only 16.4% of total export flows.

Following two years of decline, alcoholic beer exports from South-eastern Asia increased in value. In 2020, exports totaled 305.0 million US dollars, which is 6.3% higher than in 2019. Over the 2017-2020 period, exports decreased by 38.3%, with a compound annual growth rate of 14.9%. The lowest value was recorded in 2019 at 286.8 million US dollars, which also experienced the largest decline of 33.7%.
