In 2022, market volume contracted to 258 thousand tons due to a sharp 28% drop in imports, accelerated by sanctions and currency fluctuations. Domestic production, however, grew by 22% that year as companies ramped up output to compensate for restricted foreign supply. The shift toward home-made polymers altered the market structure, with changes to customs rates further affecting trade patterns.

Market volume recovered to 281 thousand tons by 2024, with production continuing its steady climb. From 2023 onward, tightening environmental standards and carbon emission taxes started to impact the industry, encouraging the development of recycling and sustainable materials. Production reached 150 thousand tons in 2025, reflecting consolidated domestic capabilities amid evolving regulatory and ecological pressures.

Between 2018 and 2021, Kazakhstan, Belarus, and Uzbekistan were the top destinations for Russia's exports of acrylic polymers in primary forms by volume. Kazakhstan accounted for 56.9% of exports, Belarus for 18.1%, and Uzbekistan for 6.0%. Together, these three countries made up 81.0% of total export flows.
