From 2018 to 2020, the market volume for wood in the rough in the Central African Republic remained stable at around 1 556 to 1 564 thousand tonnes, with production holding steady at 1 849 thousand tonnes each year and exports fluctuating moderately.

Beginning in 2021, the market volume grew, reaching 1 656 thousand tonnes by 2023. This expansion was primarily due to a sustained decline in exports, which fell to 193 thousand tonnes in 2023 from 285 thousand tonnes in 2018. The reduction in overseas shipments coincided with a period of weak global demand for wood and wood products, driven by a slowdown in construction activity and supply chain pressures from increased forest fires.

In 2024, export volumes rose to 237 thousand tonnes, and the country recorded a small import of 1 thousand tonne. Global wood supply chains continued to face pressure from extreme wildfire seasons, influencing international trade flows.
