From 2017 to 2020, exports rose by 22%, with a compound annual growth rate of 6.9%. The lowest export volume was in 2018 at 325.7 K t, which saw the largest decline of 10.3%, while the biggest increase of 16.7% happened in 2019.

Between 2017 and 2020, the main destinations for Southern Europe's wheat bran, sharps and residues exports in kind were Turkey, accounting for 36.6% of exports, Tunisia with 15.0%, and Ireland at 2.7%. Together, these three countries represented 54.4% of total export flows.
