Between 2018 and 2020, Jordan's watermelon market volume grew steadily from 69.6 to 76.3 thousand tons, despite a dip in production in 2020. The initial production level of 93.6 thousand tons in 2018 was supported by higher temperatures that boosted yields across the vegetable and fruit sector.

A dramatic surge occurred in 2021, with production leaping to 141.1 thousand tons and driving the domestic market volume to a peak of 129.6 thousand tons. This was followed by a correction in 2022 and 2023, with production falling to 111.8 and 90.1 thousand tons, respectively. During the 2022 adjustment, government measures to stabilize prices and confirmed increases in vegetable supplies to the local market after seasonal declines provided context for the market's elevated output relative to pre-2021 levels.

By 2023, the market volume had receded to 77.8 thousand tons, while export volumes showed signs of recovery, increasing to 12.2 thousand tons that year and pointing to renewed external demand.
