The uncooked pasta market in Belarus expanded from 18 194 metric tons in 2018 to a peak of 20 443 metric tons in 2020. This growth was driven by increasing consumer preference for pasta made from durum wheat, which is not grown locally and relies on imported raw materials or finished products. The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 further boosted demand as households stocked up on staple foods during lockdowns.

After 2020, the market contracted, falling to 15 684 metric tons by 2023. The decline coincided with global factors such as rising wheat prices and logistical challenges in 2022, which increased import costs. In 2023, higher raw material and product prices shifted consumer preferences toward more affordable pasta, reducing overall market volume. Increased exports of Russian pasta to Belarus also intensified competitive pressure on the domestic market.

In 2024, regulatory changes were introduced, including preparations for mandatory product labeling and traceability for pasta, with deadlines postponed to October 2025. Import markups were reduced to support local producers, and a ban on pasta exports from Belarus was implemented. Simultaneously, Russian pasta exports to Belarus grew by 26%, altering the competitive landscape. State-owned enterprises like Minsk Bread Products Complex continued to modernize production facilities.

In 2020, the output was valued at 269.4 thousand US dollars, showing a significant decrease of 21.6% compared to 2019. The peak value was recorded in 2019 at 343.8 thousand US dollars, while the largest increase occurred in 2018 with a 19.7% rise.

The lowest volume was recorded in 2019 at 199 tons, which also saw the steepest decline of 45.2%.

From 2017 to 2020, Russia, Serbia, and Venezuela were the main destinations for Belarus's uncooked pasta exports in volume terms. Russia accounted for 56.2% of exports, Serbia for 13.2%, and Venezuela for 10.5%, together making up 79.9% of total flows.

Belarus's exports of uncooked pasta in value terms have declined for the third consecutive year. In 2020, exports totaled 120 thousand US dollars, indicating a modest decrease of 8.5% from the previous year. Over the 2017-2020 span, exports dropped by 49.6%, with an average annual decline of 20.4%.
