Lithuania's export volume of twine, cordage, ropes and cables increased for the third consecutive year. In 2021, exports reached 3 830 tonnes, up by 24.9% compared to 2020. Over the period from 2018 to 2021, exports rose by 62.4%, with an average annual growth rate of 17.5%.

From 2018 to 2021, Lithuania's exports of twine, cordage, ropes and cables in kind were not concentrated on a few key destinations. Denmark accounted for 26.8% of exports, Latvia for 9.9%, and Norway for 8.3%, with these three countries together representing only 45.0% of total export flows.

In 2021, Lithuania exported 30 353 thousand US dollars worth of these products, showing a solid increase of 20.7% compared to 2020. Between 2018 and 2021, exports grew by 33.4%, with an average annual growth rate of 10.1%. The lowest value was recorded in 2019 at 22 398 thousand US dollars, which also saw the largest decline of 1.6%.

In 2018–2021, Latvia, Portugal, and India consistently remained the main sources for imports in kind of twine, cordage, ropes and cables into Lithuania. Latvia accounted for 24.7% of imports, Portugal for 17.5%, and Denmark for 7.6%, with these three countries together representing only 49.9% of total flows. A long tail of smaller markets formed the remaining 50.1%.
