Earlier Report Observations

The turkey meat and offal market in the MENA region remained relatively stable between 2018 and 2020, with volume fluctuating between 357 thousand tons and 359 thousand tons. In 2018, increased complexity in Middle East and Africa supply chains boosted the need to keep meat fresh for longer periods, supporting sales of frozen poultry meat.

Market volume began to grow from 2021, reaching 362 thousand tons, and continued to expand to 367 thousand tons in 2022. This growth was aided by a rising consumer preference in the region for fresh processed meat due to its high nutritional value, including protein, minerals, vitamins, and antioxidants.

A significant surge occurred in 2023, with market volume jumping to 395 thousand tons. This increase was partly driven by heightened demand for turkey meat in the UAE, where many families celebrated Thanksgiving, leading to double-digit sales growth in some restaurants.
