From 2018 to 2023, the treenuts market volume in Bahrain showed notable fluctuations, beginning at a relatively stable level near 8 500 t. The government actively supported local agriculture during the initial years by organizing weekly farmers' markets in Manama and promoting them in major retail chains, which raised awareness of healthy foods and domestic produce.

After a contraction to 7 786 t in 2020, the market rebounded to 8 066 t in 2021, aided by improved liquidity following the Central Bank of Bahrain's issuance of 100 million dinar development bonds. A sharp rise to 9 412 t occurred in 2022, but volume fell to 8 650 t in 2023 as pandemic-related transport and supply disruptions limited availability, despite strengthening consumer demand driven by growing health awareness regarding nuts' nutritional benefits.

The market showed significant volatility during this period. Export volumes reached their lowest point in 2018 at 21 tonnes, then peaked in 2017 with a 6.2-fold difference between these years. In 2020, Bahrain exported 33 tonnes of treenuts, representing a 58.2% decrease from 2019. The largest decline occurred in 2018 at 83.8%, while the most substantial increase was recorded in 2019 at 266.0%.

From 2017 to 2020, India, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates were the main buyers of treenuts from Bahrain. India accounted for 29.1% of exports in kind, Saudi Arabia for 23.6%, and the United Arab Emirates for 20.6%. Together, these three countries represented 73.3% of Bahrain's total treenuts exports by volume.
