The cabbage market in Bahrain experienced significant fluctuations between 2018 and 2023. Market volume peaked at 4 369 t in 2018 before declining to a low of 3 249 t in 2021. A partial recovery to 3 860 t occurred in 2022, followed by a sharp contraction to 2 081 t in 2023.

Underlying these shifts were contrasting movements in domestic production and imports. Local cabbage output expanded from 750 t in 2018 to 1 200 t in 2023, while import volumes fell dramatically from over 3 600 t to just 882 t over the same period. The steep import reduction in 2023 was the primary driver behind that year's market volume drop.
