The market volume for fresh or chilled edible brassicas in Bahrain displayed considerable variability from 2018 to 2023. After beginning the period at 10 464 t, it saw a minor decrease in 2019 before climbing to its highest point of 10 521 t in 2020.

A pronounced downturn followed in 2021, with the market contracting by over 13% to 9 089 t. A partial rebound to 9 323 t occurred in 2022, but this was overturned by a severe drop in 2023, when the market volume more than halved to 4 406 t.

This overall reduction in market size was accompanied by a steep fall in import volumes, which decreased from 8 657 t in 2018 to 2 288 t in 2023. Domestic production, in contrast, followed a more volatile but generally upward path, rising from 1 870 t to 2 150 t over the same six-year span.
