Earlier Report Observations
From 2018 to 2019, Angola's treenuts market volume increased from 3 863 t to a peak of 3 963 t. This growth coincided with the establishment of the France-Angola Business Club (CEFA) in September 2018, which bolstered trade relations and investments in local agricultural production, including fruits.
After 2019, market volume contracted to 2 897 t in 2021, primarily due to a sharp drop in imports. Domestic treenuts production, however, remained stable, supported by the resilience of the fruit sector which recorded a 5.0% output growth in 2019/2020 despite drought conditions. The government's acceleration of the Privatization Program (PROPRIV) also aimed to stimulate investments across agriculture, including related segments.
Market volume recovered to 3 159 t by 2023, aided by a 5.9% rise in corporate fruit production during the 2022/2023 season and the launch of the National Grain Production Promotion Plan (Planagrão) in December 2022. These initiatives fostered infrastructure investment and diversification within the agricultural sector, contributing to the market's gradual rebound.
