Earlier Report Observations

The Bulgarian market for paper tablecloths and serviettes began the period with several major domestic producers, including Belahart, Zavod za Hartia Belovo, and Selena Paper, who were actively introducing new product segments such as disposable table covers and medical sheets. Despite these innovations, market volume declined from 5 574 tons in 2018 to 4 877 tons in 2019 and further to 3 948 tons in 2020.

A sharp turnaround occurred in 2021, with market volume surging to 6 664 tons. This recovery was primarily driven by the largest producer, Zavod za Hartia Belovo, expanding its export operations and other manufacturers investing in automation and modernization of production lines to meet rising demand. Growth continued in the following years, reaching 7 474 tons in 2023 and 7 816 tons in 2024.

Throughout the period, evolving consumer preferences towards higher-quality and more eco-friendly products, coupled with tightening hygiene and labeling regulations, influenced production standards and product offerings on the market.
